So can you send out an extra command to refresh the cache before a remaster goes live?
Or possibly push back the release time of a remaster to better coincide with the 6 hour refresh cycle of the server cache? Assuming the 6 hour cycles are synchronized worldwide
Different cache 😛
When you access a website it's not actually hitting the slow database for every piece of information. It has a much faster (but not searchable) cache with copies of the DB info that only loads once every 6 hours or so. Makes things way faster, but sometimes ends up with stale information. In this case, the old info is the list of available formats. So the files are there, but the site doesn't know to show you the links until it looks again.
I see
I seem to remember a similar situation when a customer tries to download a scene (perhaps an older or less popular scene) that isn’t cached at the server nearest to them.
They are still able to download the scene though. Albeit at much slower speeds as the server is basically transferring the file to the customer as quick as they can get the file from the main server. But the customer is still able to download it.
On the remasters though. The links aren’t even available for the first couple hours.
I’m not going to pretend to know how CDNs work. But isn’t there a way to make the remasters behave more like an older scene that isn’t cached at the particular server?
